Sailing Yacht "HANSEAT IV" - Class, Safety, Fire-fighting and Bilges

 
Bilge and firefighting system:
6 bilge compartments have been created and are served through a manifold by 2 main bilge pumps, one electric and the other hydraulically driven, each with a capacity of 300 ltrs /min. A manual Whale gusher pump of 125 ltrs/min. is installed in the cockpit.
5 nuisance water pumps will discharge smaller quantities of water from the resp. area.
Main bilge pumps are used as firefighting pumps through special piping system as well.
One automatic CO2 fire extinguishing system has been installed in the engine room. All cabins and living and working spaces have been fitted with the appropriate Type and size of handheld fire extinguishers.
Safety Equipment:
The safety equipment complies with statutory requirements for a craft of this size under the German flag and the respective Classification Rules of GL. There is onboard:
 2 six persons Autoflug liferafts
 Two John-Buoy Man Over Board Packages
 Fire extinguishing systems as described before
 10 automatic Secumar lifejackets
 2 Lifebuoys with strobe lights, whistles etc.
 One Satcom/Inmarsat EPIRB, connected to GPS plus one SART
 A full set of flares and cartridges as emergency signals, incl. pistol, are kept onboard
